Technically, I was supposed to introduce you to our next bad ass mom in January, but life and 3 kids kicked my ass and I got SO behind with everything! ( #Fail ) So, I’m calling a do-over and making February the start of my year and with that being said, I’m super excited to introduce you to our very first Mom of the Month of 2018, Vicki Wilkinson!
Read more about her below and please do visit her AMAZING, educational blog Babies to Bookworms You won’t regret it, especially if you have little book lovers, trust me!
My name is Vicki Wilkinson. I am a former teacher with a passion for books, reading and learning who blogs about parenting and children’s books at Babies to Bookworms. I am a stay at home mom to a 2 year old daughter who is also a budding bookworm. One of my favorite parts of teaching was creating activities based on the stories we were reading, and watching the books come to life for kids. While staying home with my daughter, I decided to share this love of education with other parents, teachers and caregivers while teaching my daughter and bringing books to life for her. I love finding the learning opportunities in every day life, and my blog encourages and teaches parents to do the same.
Describe Motherhood in 3 words
Beautiful. Surprising. Adventure.
What is one “mom” essential you can’t live without
Coffee. I also love tea or hot chocolate, or pretty much any delicious warm drink in a mug that I can drink while curled up with a book during any spare moment of downtime.
Which TV/Movie Mom do you relate to most?
I’m going to say Topanga from the Boy Meets World sequel Girl Meets World. I grew up with Boy Meets World, and when the sequel came out, I was a new mom and it was fun to see them in the same place. She had a great line when her son drew all over the wall and she told him it looked great. When Cory (her husband) questioned her, she kept nodding and smiling and said “I think that’s what we’re supposed to say”. Always trying to be positive and do the best she can, even when she doesn’t feel like she knows what she’s doing!
Any tips/advice for moms looking to start their own hustle?
Don’t doubt yourself! I first started my blog years ago, but I barely did anything with it and eventually it faded away. Now, I am a year into really blogging and I can’t imagine where I would be if I had pushed through it before. I have learned so much about myself and my strength during the past year and I have met some amazing women in the process. Learn everything you can about your hustle – actually, never stop learning in general!
